Established in 1980, SCL is today a wholly owned subsidiary of Chemetall Foote Corp. The offices are located at La Negra near Antofagasta, Chile.
In 1984, SCL started the production of Lithium carbonate at its La Negra facility, based on natural brines from the Salar de Atacama, one of the driest deserts on earth.
Potash, for the manufacture of fertilizers, is also recovered at the Salar.
SCL secures Chemetall´s low cost raw material resources on a long-term basis.
